Web 2.0: Becoming the Change We Want to See
Read Pen Inc. invites you to join our third annual fundraising event on Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Travelodge Ottawa West, located at 1376 Carling Avenue. This event will be of interest to organizations that develop, test, deliver, manage, and/or consume technical information.

About the talks
Nathan Rudyk (live) will discuss “Web 2.0: The Web wave of the 90s becomes a 21st century tsunami”.
Thomas Howe (cast) will discuss “Web 2.0 and the impact it is having on technical communication”.
Ottawa writer and editor Alison Gresik (live) will speak about why she
blogs, and what makes this medium so compelling for writers and readers
alike.
About the presenters
In 1995, Nathan Rudyk started building a Web marketing powerhouse called digIT Interactive that he sold to Quebecor’s TSE-listed nurun Inc. in 2000. A published author, he also served as an Ottawa CBC radio Internet columnist from 1999-2001, and commentator on CTV’s “Tech Now” TV show from 2002-2004. In April of 2005 he formed market2world, providing Web 2.0 services and strategy to local, national and international organizations. Alison Gresik has been writing and editing software manuals for seven
years, and writing literary fiction for twelve. Her story collection,
/Brick and Mortar/, was shortlisted for the Ottawa Book Award in 2001.
She blogs about writing at www.gresik.ca, and recently added a knitting
blog at virginiawool.prettyposies.com.
Thomas Howe is an independent consultant with a focus on next
generation telephony. Previously, he was the CTO of Versatel Networks,
whre he was responsible for setting technology direction and strategy.
Prior to joining Versatel, he was CEO and Founder of Tangerine Inc., a
leading maker of call agents for small IP telephony service providers.
Mr. Howe also founded Howe Digital, a VoIP engineering design
consulting organization responsible for designing over 50 VoIP
products. At PictureTel/Polycom, Mr. Howe designed the audio and video
software of the first PC-based video conferencing system, the first
H.323 implementation and the program that became Microsoft NetMeeting.
He also served as PictureTel's engineering manager responsible for all
software development for the next generation H.323/H.320/H.324
SwiftSite product line. He has also served as the director of
engineering for NetPhone's first generation IPBX product line
(subsequently purchased by Sonoma Systems, then Nortel) and as Aware
Inc.'s software architect for the first commercially available ADSL
chipset, where he contributed to developing the DSL standards process.
He currently serves on several technical advisory boards and boards of
directors.
